Sopwell House in Hertfordshire has appointed Luigi Villani as its new Director of Spa, with responsibility for Cottonmill Spa and The Club at Cottonmill.

Villani brings more than 20 years of international experience across luxury spa and wellness operations to the role.
He joins Sopwell House from Kempinski Hotels, where he served as Head of Spas and was responsible for the group’s global spa and wellness strategy across 80 properties.
Prior to Kempinski, Villani was Director of Learning and Performance at spa management company Ocean View Monaco.
In that position, he oversaw a team of 380 employees operating across a portfolio of 17 luxury cruise ship spas.
His wider career has included a focus on revenue optimisation, operational performance, staff development, guest satisfaction and employee retention.
At Sopwell House, Villani will oversee the continued development of Cottonmill Spa and The Club at Cottonmill.
His remit will include the overall guest and member experience, identifying opportunities to develop the wellness offer and supporting the spa team’s operational performance and development.
