TRA Launches Review into Ceramic Tableware and Kitchenware Imports from China

July 21, 2026

The Trade Remedies Authority has initiated an interim review into an existing measure on imports of ceramic tableware and kitchenware from China.

The review was launched yesterday, 20 July 2026, after the TRA noted that there may be continued dumping of the goods, with both increasing import volumes and falling prices.

Despite current duties ranging between 13% and 36%, the volume of imports from China has not decreased.

The TRA said imports increased steadily by 22% between 2023 and 2025.

The expectation would be for imports to decrease over time in response to the measure.

In addition, the price per unit for Chinese imports has decreased significantly since 2022.

Chinese import unit value fell by up to 35% between 2022 and 2025.

The TRA said pricing at this level impacts the competitiveness of UK industries.

The review will assess whether the existing measure is sufficiently offsetting the dumping of goods that is causing injury to UK industry.

It will also consider whether it would be appropriate to change the anti-dumping duty.

TRA Co-Chief Executives Jessica Blakely and Carmen Suarez said: “The TRA is initiating an interim review in response to evidence of continued dumping from China.

“The TRA’s responsiveness to the change in market circumstances is just one example of how it is meeting the Government’s strategic steer for a more accessible, assertive and agile trade remedies system.”

Businesses that may be affected by the investigation can register their interest on the investigation’s public file by 4 August 2026.

Affected businesses can also join an online drop-in session on 24 July 2026 to learn more about the review and how it may affect them.
