DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre has appointed Mahesh Jay as General Manager, bringing more than 30 years of hospitality experience to the 206-bedroom property as it prepares for its next phase of development.

Jay will oversee hotel operations, team development and guest experience, with planned investment expected to support the property’s continued development in 2027.
Beginning his hospitality career as a chef, Jay worked with international brands including Taj and Sheraton before progressing into hotel operations and senior management.
His career has subsequently included leadership positions across hotels operating under Radisson, Accor, IHG, Marriott and Hilton brands, with experience in hotel conversions, rebranding projects and operational development.
The appointment also marks Jay’s return to Focus Hotels, the management company responsible for operating DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre.
He previously served as General Manager of Hotel Indigo Exeter and supported Focus Hotels with hotel opening and rebranding projects at two properties in Northern Ireland.
Commenting on his appointment, Mahesh Jay said: “I am delighted to join DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre and lead such an exciting journey ahead. Bristol is one of the UK’s most vibrant and dynamic cities – it’s where my hospitality journey in the UK started, so coming back here is amazing.
“My focus will be on building a strong people-first culture, delivering memorable guest experiences, and ensuring we continue to strengthen our position as one of Bristol’s leading hotels, serving both business and leisure travellers. With the investment planned and the opportunities ahead, we’re in a great position to make this hotel a standout choice in Bristol.”
Focus Hotels has operated DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre for 14 years, with the property forming part of its portfolio of internationally branded hotels across the UK.
Jay highlighted the management company’s operational support and leadership culture as important factors in his decision to return.
He added: “Coming back to Focus Hotels was an easy decision. The culture, the systems and the tools they give their general managers, and the genuine support behind them, make a real difference. This hotel is a great asset that Focus has operated for 14 years, and I’m excited to be leading it.”
Devin Grosse, CEO of Focus Hotels, said: “I’m delighted that Mahesh has returned to Focus to lead DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre, one of our flagship assets. He brings huge value to the group as well as the hotel itself, and his ability to build and inspire high-performing teams makes him the ideal person to take the hotel into its next chapter.”
Located in central Bristol, approximately five minutes’ walk from Bristol Temple Meads railway station, DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre provides 206 bedrooms alongside meeting and event facilities and a fitness centre.
The hotel’s food and beverage offering includes Kiln Restaurant, housed within a historic 17th-century glass kiln, serving modern British cuisine for breakfast and dinner.
Jay’s appointment comes as the hotel prepares for planned investment and further development of its guest offering, with a focus on strengthening its position in Bristol’s business and leisure hospitality markets.
