The Sloane Club to Open Bistro 1922 in Chelsea This October

September 13, 2026

The Sloane Club is set to open Bistro 1922 in Chelsea on 5 October, following a soft launch for hotel guests and local businesses from 21 September.

Located next to The Sloane Club on Lower Sloane Street, the new restaurant will be open to the public and builds on the launch of Café 1922 earlier this year.

Bistro 1922 has been developed as a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant offering lunch and dinner while drawing on the hospitality heritage of The Sloane Club.

Its menu will have a predominantly British focus, with Executive Head Chef George Scott-Toft working alongside Director of Food & Beverage Gordy McIntyre.

The team is developing relationships with suppliers and food and beverage partners including Rockfish, Cultjar, HG Walter and Curing Rebels, with provenance and British produce forming a central part of the offer.

The restaurant will also operate as a changing gallery space.

Artwork has been curated in partnership with Chelsea-based Hommage, which specialises in original posters and lithographs.

Works will rotate throughout the year and will include museum and exhibition posters by artists including Pablo Picasso, Raoul Dufy and Damien Hirst.

Bistro 1922 takes its name from the year The Sloane Club was founded.

Princess Helena established the organisation in 1922 as the Ex-Service Women’s Club, providing a place for women returning from the First World War to meet, support one another and exchange ideas.

The launch follows Café 1922, which opened to the public in April 2026 as a neighbourhood café and deli.

Together, the two venues form part of a wider development of The Sloane Club’s hospitality offer as it looks to make elements of its 104-year heritage accessible to the wider Chelsea community.

Neena Jivraj-Stevenson, Managing Director of The Sloane Club, said: “Bistro 1922 is an exciting next step for us.

“Café 1922 showed us there was a real appetite to bring the spirit of The Sloane Club beyond our members and into the neighbourhood, and Bistro 1922 gives us the opportunity to take that idea much further.

“We wanted Bistro 1922 to have its own personality – more energy and the unmistakable character of a great London bistro – while staying true to the things that have always mattered to us: generous hospitality, good food, conversation and a sense of belonging.

“It’s a new chapter for 1922, but one that feels completely at home in Chelsea.”

Bistro 1922 will soft launch from 21 September before opening to the public on 5 October 2026.
