September 4, 2026

Din Tai Fung has confirmed plans to open its fifth London restaurant in King’s Cross this December.

Located at 1 Lewis Cubitt Walk, the 160-cover restaurant will become the Taiwanese group’s latest UK opening following sites in Covent Garden, Selfridges, Centre Point and Canary Wharf.

The King’s Cross restaurant is being developed as Din Tai Fung’s first lifestyle-led destination in the UK, combining its established dining offer with new spaces for drinks, events and community activities.

It will introduce a purpose-built masterclass and community space alongside an outdoor contemplation garden providing 30 covers for alfresco dining.

At the centre of the restaurant will be the Din Tai Fung Bar, described as a world first for the brand.

The bar will introduce a dedicated cocktail programme and an exclusive UK-brewed Din Tai Fung beer developed in collaboration with Butcombe Brewing Co.

Its drinks menu will also include Japanese sake and wines alongside the cocktail selection.

The food menu will continue to focus on Din Tai Fung’s Taiwanese dishes, including Xiao Long Bao, Pork and Prawn Wontons with Spicy Sauce, Clarence Court Egg Fried Rice and Smacked Cucumber.

Chocolate Xiao Long Bao made using Valrhona chocolate will also feature, while locally sourced Cherryfield pork will be used in dishes including the Pork Xiao Long Bao and Pork & Prawn Wontons.

A semi-open kitchen will allow guests to watch chefs preparing dumplings, noodles and wok-fried rice.

The restaurant’s Xiao Long Bao are individually hand-folded into 18 pleats as part of the preparation process.

Interiors will combine contemporary and traditional architectural elements with Chinese sculptures and graphics.

Din Tai Fung also plans to use the dedicated community space for a programme of masterclasses and cultural experiences designed to extend the guest experience beyond the dining room.

The business was founded in Taipei more than 60 years ago by Yang Bing-yi, initially operating as a cooking oil retailer before handmade dumplings became central to the company.

It now operates more than 180 restaurants across Asia, North America, the UAE and the UK.

Din Tai Fung entered the UK in 2018 with the opening of its Covent Garden flagship.

The King’s Cross restaurant is scheduled to open in December 2026.
