Coach & Horses Reopens in Denton Following £332,555 Investment

September 8, 2026

The Coach & Horses in Denton has reopened following a £332,555 investment designed to strengthen the pub’s position within the local community.

Located on Hyde Road, the venue officially reopened on Thursday 3 September and forms part of Proper Pubs, the community wet-led division of Admiral Taverns.

Operators Carol Mitchell and Dave O’Casey, who bring more than five years of hospitality experience, are leading the reopened pub.

The refurbishment has introduced an upgraded lounge, bar and dedicated games area.

A new pool table and darts board have been installed, while five televisions throughout the pub will show live sport on Sky and TNT Sports.

The external areas have also been upgraded with new signage and festoon lighting.

The beer garden includes an outdoor television and seating for approximately 50 to 70 customers at the rear, alongside space for a further 20 at the front.

The pub will run a regular entertainment programme, including live music every Friday and Saturday from 8pm.

An open mic night will take place every Thursday, while the pub’s pool team will play on Monday evenings.

Plans are also being developed for weekly quiz and bingo nights.

Mitchell and O’Casey said: “It was great to see people visit and experience the finished pub for the first time.

“The refurbishment has given the Coach & Horses a fresh new look while retaining the character that makes it an important part of the community.

“Admiral’s expertise was very valuable throughout the process, and the team understood what the pub needed to offer the community.

“From the outset, the aim was to create a comfortable, welcoming space for locals and visitors to enjoy.”

The operators also plan to support the local community by collecting food for a nearby foodbank and hope to organise charity events in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Matt Gurney, Operations Director for Proper Pubs, said: “It has been a real pleasure to welcome Carol and Dave to the Coach & Horses.

“It was fantastic to see the refurbishment come together so well in the end, and the opening night was a great success.

“Bringing people together and creating vibrant community hubs is at the heart of what we do, and we are so glad to see another successful community pub opening.”

Proper Pubs operates more than 200 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.

Its wider community initiatives have included foodbank collections, seasonal donation campaigns and fundraising for Claire House Children’s Hospice.

In 2026, Proper Pubs was named a finalist in the Best Community Pub category at the Great British Publican Awards, having previously been named Community Pub Operator at the Publican Awards in 2024.
