The Standard, London has appointed Murray Scott as General Manager, strengthening the leadership team at its King’s Cross hotel.

Scott joins following his most recent position as General Manager of The Hoxton Holborn, having previously led The Hoxton Shoreditch.
He brings more than 21 years’ experience in hospitality, with a career spanning lifestyle and luxury hotel brands in London and Edinburgh.
Previous senior roles have included positions with NH Hotel Group, Bankside Autograph Collection, London Marriott Grosvenor Square, The Park Tower Knightsbridge and Sheraton Grand Edinburgh.
Scott began his hospitality career in housekeeping before progressing through front office and management positions.
He previously served as General Manager of nhow London, where he was also responsible for operations at NH Kensington.
He now takes responsibility for The Standard, London’s hotel operations, team and guest experience as the King’s Cross property continues to develop its lifestyle hospitality offer.
Scott said: “Joining The Standard, London is an incredible opportunity and one I feel genuinely proud to be taking on.
“Throughout my career, I’ve always believed that the best hotels are built by great people who bring a great culture to guest experiences, and this is something The Standard, London does exceptionally well.
“The hotel has established itself as one of London’s most exciting and distinctive destinations, with an incredibly talented team and an approach to hospitality that’s both creative and authentic.
“I’m looking forward to working alongside the team to build on that success, and to continue delivering a culture first approach.”
Scott succeeds Mario Flanagan, who served as General Manager of The Standard, London for approximately a year after joining from Great Scotland Yard Hotel.
Located at 10 Argyle Street in King’s Cross, opposite St Pancras International, The Standard occupies a former Brutalist building and comprises 266 rooms and suites.
Its food and beverage operation includes Decimo, led by Michelin-starred chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, alongside Double Standard, Isla, The Rooftop and late-night bar Sweeties.
The property also runs a programme of music, events and cultural activities as part of its wider lifestyle offer.
Elli Jafari, Global Head of Guest Experience & Performance at Hyatt Lifestyle Group, said: “The Standard, London has always challenged convention and celebrated individuality, and Murray’s collaborative leadership style and operational expertise will help ensure we continue to evolve while staying true to what makes the hotel so special.
“We are excited to have him leading the team into its next chapter.”
Scott’s appointment follows Hyatt’s acquisition of Standard International in 2024, bringing The Standard brand into Hyatt’s lifestyle portfolio.
