The Mercer Relocates to Threadneedles in City of London

August 28, 2026

British brasserie The Mercer has relocated to Threadneedles, YTL Hotels’ boutique hotel in the City of London.

The Mercer Relocates to Threadneedles in City of London

The move brings The Mercer’s 18-year history to the former headquarters of the London, City and Midland Bank, placing the restaurant a short distance from its original City address.

Threadneedles occupies a former banking hall dating back to 1856 and is located close to the Bank of England, with Tower Bridge and The Shard less than a mile away.

The Mercer will continue to focus on British brasserie cooking, with its lunch menu served from Monday to Thursday.

The menu includes Dorset crab on toast and seared Scottish scallops, followed by dishes including the signature Mercer pie, Cornish lamb shepherd’s pie and 28-day dry-aged Hereford beef.

Classic puddings and a selection of British cheeses complete the food offer.

The Mercer will also provide private dining at Threadneedles for corporate celebrations, dinners and events, with bookings available for autumn and the festive season.

Its arrival expands the existing food and beverage offer at the hotel, which includes a bar housed within a former banking counter and the Dome Lounge.

The lounge sits beneath a hand-painted stained-glass dome dating from 1856 and serves afternoon tea featuring freshly baked scones, pastries and finger sandwiches alongside teas and Champagne.

The addition of The Mercer also complements Threadneedles’ four flexible event spaces, supporting the hotel’s offer for corporate gatherings, City functions, leisure guests and business travellers.
