The Imperial Bloomsbury Announces Opening Date and Leadership Team

July 24, 2026

The Imperial Bloomsbury will officially open on 14 August 2026.

The Imperial Bloomsbury

The opening marks the start of the hotel’s third chapter and the debut of Imperial London Hotels’ first lifestyle property.

A part of Bloomsbury for more than 120 years, the hotel will offer 357 guest rooms and suites.

Accommodation will include Bay Rooms featuring the hotel’s iconic geometric windows, Hideaway suites with private terraces and outdoor bathtubs, and the Nest, one of the hotel’s largest suites, complete with a mezzanine level.

The Imperial will also feature Arcus, the neighbourhood’s first rooftop bar and restaurant.

Bancone will operate from the ground floor, bringing its pasta-focused restaurant offer to the property.

The hotel will be led by General Manager Remus Obertelli.

Obertelli brings more than 15 years of management experience across luxury and lifestyle hospitality.

Before joining The Imperial during the early stages of its once-in-a-generation refurbishment, he held management roles at hotels including Rubens at the Palace and Hotel 41, part of Red Carnation Hotels.

Most recently, he led the post-pandemic reopening of ME London.

The opening of The Imperial has created more than 200 roles.

Obertelli will be supported by a team of Heads of Department tasked with delivering a considered, connected and authentic guest experience.

As Guest Experience Manager, Denis Neychev will lead guest-facing operations, ensuring the warm, family-run values of The Imperial are reflected across all touchpoints.

Antonella Nastasi will lead on the guest journey, drawing on experience from lifestyle properties across London to curate distinctive and personalised experiences rooted in connection.

Simon Fennell will oversee the day-to-day running of The Imperial, acting as a bridge between long-term strategy and operational delivery, while maintaining guest satisfaction.

Szaby Varga will oversee Arcus Rooftop, bringing 15 years of experience in luxury hospitality, five-star hotels and private members’ clubs to the new bar and restaurant.

Abismael Urena Castillo has been appointed Head Chef at Arcus.

Having started his career in Michelin-starred kitchens in London and Europe, Castillo will bring his flair and drive for excellence to the rooftop menu.

Floriano Cubeddu, previously of CÉ LA VI and The Goring, will lead the Arcus bar.

He will curate and deliver a drinks menu designed to reflect the seasons and define the experience at the new rooftop bar.

The Imperial will also be supported by a senior leadership team including Antonella Fiasca as Breakfast Manager, Charles Cachin as Lounge Manager, Damiano Iug as Arcus Restaurant Manager, Daniel Uitz as Security Lead, and Denver Reid as Head Chef for The Imperial.

Further appointments include Joshoy Stephens as People and Development Manager, Kamarine Grant as Head Host, Raymond Bangura as Maintenance Manager, Signe Arbidane as Head of Housekeeping, and Tugend Demir as Head of Food and Beverage.
