Ruby has made its debut in France with the opening of Ruby Lilou, a 237-room hotel in Marseille.

The opening is accompanied by Ruby Yani, which introduces the Ruby Workspaces concept to the French market for the first time.
Located in La Joliette between the Vieux Port and Marseille’s business district, Ruby Lilou is close to Le Panier and the city’s waterfront, with Joliette metro station within walking distance.
The hotel takes inspiration from Marseille’s Mediterranean setting, maritime heritage and creative culture, combining Provençal influences with references to the city’s independent arts scene.
Michael Struck, Founder and CEO of Ruby Group, said: “Opening Ruby Lilou marks an important milestone for us as we debut the Ruby brand in France. Marseille is a city with a strong sense of identity, creativity, and authenticity, making it a natural fit for Ruby. Together with Ruby Yani Workspaces, we have created a destination that reflects the character of the city while offering guests, workspace members and locals a place to stay, work and connect. We are excited to become part of Marseille’s vibrant community and look forward to welcoming many guests.”
Lauren Krostue, Vice President, Global Brand Management, Ruby, said: “Marseille is a city that thrives on contrast, where heritage meets creativity, and laid-back Mediterranean living sits alongside a bold independent spirit. With Ruby Lilou, we wanted to capture that unique energy, creating a place that feels deeply rooted in its surroundings while offering the thoughtful design, comfort and character guests expect from Ruby.”
Ruby Lilou comprises 237 rooms across a range of categories, with interiors incorporating oversized beds, walk-in rainfall showers, blackout curtains and design references to Marseille’s maritime identity.
Music forms part of the hotel’s wider guest experience through curated programming, live performances and in-room Marshall amplifiers and Bluetooth speakers.
The property also includes Ruby’s 24-hour bar and café, serving coffee, local wines, cocktails and light dishes throughout the day.
A 300 sq m rooftop terrace provides an additional food, drink and social space overlooking Marseille and the Mediterranean.
Ruby Yani Workspaces operates alongside the hotel and provides more than 126 flexible workstations in addition to private offices, meeting rooms, phone booths and communal areas.
Members also have access to the hotel’s rooftop terrace, with membership options covering individual day use, regular coworking and dedicated office space.
The Marseille opening comes as Ruby, which became part of IHG Hotels & Resorts in 2025, continues to expand across European cities.
