Market Halls has reported a 277% increase in Christmas bookings compared with the same point last year, with the food hall operator seeing increased demand for festive events combining food, drink and entertainment.

The group said growth has been driven by returning corporate customers, new business and increasing demand for exclusive venue hires across its estate.

Market Halls has also pointed to the continued development of its Games Hall concept as a factor in the increase.

The social gaming format, which combines games with the group’s food and drink offer, was initially introduced at Oxford Circus before being expanded to Canary Wharf earlier this year.

Market Halls said the concept is helping it respond to businesses seeking alternatives to traditional Christmas meals and parties.

The group is also launching an updated ‘Made for Christmas’ campaign as it continues taking bookings for the festive period.

This year represents Market Halls’ largest investment in Christmas programming to date, with live entertainment, seasonal food and drink and festive booking packages being introduced across its venues.

Shelter Hall in Brighton will also see the return of its heated beachfront igloos as part of the group’s seasonal programme.

Emma Weekes, Sales and Marketing Director at Market Halls, said: “We’re seeing increasing demand from businesses looking for Christmas events that offer flexibility, variety and entertainment in one destination. Choice has become increasingly important, and people want flexibility, quality food and drink, and Market Halls is uniquely positioned to deliver that, allowing groups with different tastes and preferences to celebrate together without compromise.

“We’ve invested more than ever before in our festive programme this year, from live music and entertainment through to new Christmas packages and seasonal food and drink offers. It’s encouraging to see that investment translating into such strong booking growth.

“While we’re delighted with the momentum so far, we’re still seeing strong demand coming through and have a healthy pipeline of opportunities. We’re focused on continuing to deliver memorable Christmas experiences for groups of all sizes across the estate.”

Market Halls currently operates London venues in Oxford Circus, Victoria, Paddington and Canary Wharf, alongside Shelter Hall in Brighton.

The group continues to explore opportunities to expand its portfolio across London and other UK locations.
