Bohopo has secured a financing facility from Banco BPI for the development of a 22-room hotel in central Porto, marking the latest stage of the boutique hotel investment platform’s European expansion.

The property will become the third hotel under the Maison Arya brand, following Athens and Brussels, and the third asset in Bohopo’s growing Porto cluster.
Located at Rua do Bonjardim 690-694, the hotel will bring Maison Arya’s design-led concept to the Portuguese city. Construction has started and is expected to conclude in December 2027.
The financing was arranged with the support of MAADS Advisers. The Porto-based independent financial advisory firm led on the transaction and has also advised Bohopo on its wider financing strategy in the city.
Bohopo has appointed Portuguese construction company Norasil to deliver the works, building on the contractor’s work with the group on Mila Porto. Founded in 1983, Norasil has more than four decades of experience delivering public and private construction projects across Portugal.
Maison Arya Porto forms part of Bohopo’s strategy to aggregate, reposition and operate small city-centre hotels, with further expansion planned across existing and new markets.
By clustering properties in selected markets, Bohopo aims to create operational efficiencies, diversify asset-level risk and establish greater scale within the boutique hotel sector while maintaining the individual positioning of each property.
Stavros Pantelides, Director – Acquisitions and Investment Management, Bohopo, said: “Securing financing with Banco BPI is an important step in delivering Maison Arya’s first property in Portugal and strengthening Bohopo’s cluster in Porto. The city remains a high-conviction market for us, supported by strong visitor demand, a constrained supply of quality hotels and attractive long-term hospitality fundamentals.
“This transaction also demonstrates our ability to combine disciplined investment and development execution with strong local relationships as we continue to grow our platform across Europe.”
Pedro Silva Lopes, Director – Structured Finance Tourism, Banco BPI, said: “We are very pleased to have completed the financing of Maison Arya Porto, our second project with Bohopo in Portugal. This transaction reflects our confidence in the group’s strategy, execution capabilities and long-term commitment to the Portuguese hospitality market. We greatly value the relationship we have built with Bohopo and look forward to seeing Maison Arya Porto become a successful addition to the city’s boutique hotel offering.”
Maria Georgiou, Director – Development, Bohopo, said: “Maison Arya Porto will build on the brand’s established identity while remaining firmly rooted in its local setting. Norasil’s appointment enables us to continue working with a team that understands the quality we expect and the practical complexities of transforming distinctive city-centre buildings into high-quality boutique hotels.”
