The Medlock Opens at Manchester’s New Medlock Square

September 9, 2026

The Medlock, a Radisson Blu Hotel, has officially opened in East Manchester as part of the developing Medlock Square entertainment destination.

Three Rivers Brasserie

Opened on 7 September, the 401-room hotel is located close to the Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live and has been developed in partnership with Radisson Hotel Group, with operations led by Valor Hospitality Partners.

The property combines contemporary British design with references to the area’s industrial heritage, former gasworks, waterways and surrounding green spaces.

Its lobby features a digital reflective installation with lighting designed to change in response to match days and events at the neighbouring stadium and arena.

Digital check-in pods, lounge seating and a statement staircase also form part of the arrival experience, with the space designed to adapt throughout the day.

The hotel’s 401 guestrooms include family accommodation, deluxe rooms and suites, with interiors using warm timber, tactile fabrics and design details influenced by Manchester’s relationship with music.

Artwork from Manchester-based artists Paul Crudgington, James Cochrane and Steve Longbottom features throughout the rooms, while the accommodation also incorporates GRIND coffee machines and mattresses developed in partnership with Silentnight.

Deluxe rooms include yoga mats, while deluxe accommodation and suites provide access to virtual in-room fitness trainers.

At the top end of the accommodation offer is a two-storey Penthouse Suite.

Designed for private stays, dinners and events, the suite includes two bedrooms, with the option to add a third, alongside a fully equipped kitchen, living and entertaining areas and a private rooftop garden.

It also provides views towards Co-op Live and dedicated VIP access.

Fitness facilities include a 24-hour Technogym fitness centre equipped with virtual personal training technology.

Food and beverage at The Medlock is centred around two concepts, Blend and Three Rivers Brasserie and Bar.

Blend operates as a café during the day before transitioning into a wine bar in the evening.

The venue serves GRIND coffee and pastries alongside wines and craft beers and has been designed to cater for local residents, visitors and guests attending events within the wider Etihad Campus.

Three Rivers Brasserie and Bar provides all-day dining with a menu focused on British produce.

Dishes include prawn cocktail, a selection of steaks sourced from Hereford cattle and regional dishes including Lancashire hotpot.

Manchester tart has also been reinterpreted as a panna cotta.

The drinks programme is overseen by Medlock Square Head of Bars Cressida Lawlor, while MasterChef winner Dan Merriman serves as Medlock Square Development Chef.

Richard Pearson, General Manager of The Medlock, said: “We’re incredibly proud to officially open the doors to The Medlock, as it takes centre stage as the beginning of the story of Medlock Square.

“We’ve created a hotel that feels uniquely Manchester, right at the heart of one of the UK’s most exciting destinations.

“Whether guests are visiting for football, music, business, or to experience the city, we want The Medlock to be more than somewhere to stay – we want it to be the place where every Manchester experience begins with a brilliant welcome.

“I’m incredibly proud of what our team has achieved. They’ve shown real grit to bring The Medlock to life, backed each other every step of the way, and poured their heart and energy into creating something special.

“This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to welcome our first guests and share the warmth, spirit, and sense of community that makes The Medlock feel like home. This is a milestone day for the evolution of Manchester as we continue to shape its next go-to destination.”

Joep Peeters, Chief Operating Officer Franchise EMEA at Radisson Hotel Group, added: “The opening of this flagship hotel represents a defining moment for both Manchester and the team behind it.

“Whether visitors are here for a football match, a concert, a conference, or just to explore Manchester, both the hotel and its location offer guests an experience unlike anywhere else in the UK.

“The property reflects the city’s character: welcoming, energetic and proudly authentic, and we are thrilled to welcome it into the Radisson Blu portfolio.”

The Medlock also incorporates flexible spaces with natural light for meetings, private functions and brand events, while its location enables it to support residential conferences held across the Etihad Campus.
