The Good Front Room Enters Phase Two with Broader Caribbean Menu

September 11, 2026

The Good Front Room in Dalston has entered its second phase, introducing a broader Caribbean menu alongside a more flexible approach to dining.

The Good Front Room Enters Phase Two with Broader Caribbean Menu

The new direction builds on the vision established by the restaurant’s late founder, chef Dom Taylor, while expanding the range of Caribbean cultures and cooking traditions represented across the menu.

The permanent restaurant opened in February 2026 following the success of Taylor’s Good Front Room residency at The Langham.

Head Chef Amani Garcia now leads the kitchen, having worked alongside Taylor and bringing a background spanning professional kitchens, photography, videography and editing.

While Jamaican cooking remains central to the restaurant, the new menu draws more widely on influences from Guyana, Trinidad, Guadeloupe and other parts of the Caribbean.

The traditional starter and main course format has been replaced by Lickle Plates and Big Plates, allowing guests to order smaller dishes with drinks, share plates across the table or build a larger meal.

Lickle Plates start from £12 and are served as they are prepared rather than following a fixed course structure.

The smaller dishes are organised across Caribbean Sea, Caribbean Garden and Caribbean Fire Pit.

Options include Escovitch Soft Shell Crab, Peach Mango Peppered Prawns, Trinidadian Doubles and Guyanese Poulourie Skewers.

Pepperpot Sliders and Jerk Chicken with Plantain Jam also feature.

Larger dishes include Brown Stew Short Rib with Rice and Peas and Guadeloupe-inspired Colombo de Poulet.

Green Seasoning and Tamarind Grilled Sea Bass and Balanjay served with coconut white rice complete the Big Plates selection.

The revised format has been developed to make the restaurant suitable for a wider range of occasions, from drinks and smaller plates to full meals and group dining.

Several dishes and flavours associated with Taylor remain on the menu, maintaining a link between the restaurant’s current direction and the original Good Front Room concept.

Taylor won Channel 4’s Five Star Kitchen: Britain’s Next Great Chef with The Good Front Room concept before taking it to The Langham in 2023.

The restaurant’s name was inspired by his great aunt Myrtle and the tradition of Caribbean households keeping a front room for welcoming special guests.

The second phase continues that approach while broadening the restaurant’s exploration of Caribbean food and introducing a more informal and social dining format.
