The Falcon Reopens in Felixstowe Following £382,000 Refurbishment

September 19, 2026

The Falcon in Felixstowe has reopened following an investment of more than £382,000 in the High Street community pub.

The Falcon Felixstowe refurbishment

The venue officially reopened on Friday 11 September following a refurbishment covering its interiors, bar, games facilities and outdoor areas.

The Falcon forms part of Proper Pubs, the community wet-led division of Admiral Taverns, which operates more than 200 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.

Dwain Reader has taken over the pub, bringing previous experience of running another Proper Pubs venue in Braintree.

The refurbishment has introduced new décor throughout alongside a redesigned bar area intended to create a more open layout.

A new pool and darts area has also been added.

Outside, The Falcon now includes a refurbished courtyard and garden for customers.

The pub will operate a regular entertainment programme including live music, karaoke and quiz nights.

Reader also plans to support the local community through food collections for a nearby foodbank and fundraising towards the installation of a defibrillator.

Reader said: “It has been fantastic welcoming customers into The Falcon over the past week. The response from locals has been incredibly positive, and I would like to thank the whole community for their generous support with this new venture.

“I look forward to serving the people of Felixstowe for many years to come.”

Nikki Greenhalgh, Operations Director for Proper Pubs, said: “It’s been a real pleasure to officially welcome Dwain to The Falcon, and the finished refurbishment looks fantastic. It has been wonderful to see the doors reopen and the local community returning to enjoy this great pub once again.

“On behalf of myself and the whole Proper Pubs team, we would like to congratulate Dwain on his first week and wish him the very best of luck for the future.”

Proper Pubs runs a wider programme of community fundraising and donation initiatives across its estate.

During Easter 2026, its pubs collected 21,619 Easter eggs for local charities, while operators collected 17,500 selection boxes for communities in need during Christmas 2025.

The business also raised £80,255 for Admiral Taverns’ charity partner Claire House Children’s Hospice during 2025.

Its wider community activity has included foodbank donations and participation in a defibrillator installation programme.
