Murphy’s Tavern is expanding its Crosby Village venue with the opening of a new dedicated space, The Snug, this October.
The addition will extend the Irish-inspired pub on Moor Lane with a quieter area designed around the traditional pub snug format.
The space will feature custom seating, traditional pub décor, low lighting and smaller seating areas, with no music planned.
The operator intends The Snug to provide an alternative to Murphy’s Tavern’s main sports and live entertainment area, with a focus on food, conversation and quieter drinks.
The expansion follows the same independent hospitality team’s recent investment in The George, approximately 200 yards away on Moor Lane.
The George reopened in August following an extensive refurbishment after being acquired by the operators behind Murphy’s Tavern earlier this year. The project created 20 jobs and restored a number of the pub’s historic features.

“With the recent opening of The George going so well, expanding Murphy’s to add ‘The Snug’ was the natural next step. We wanted to create a dedicated, intimate space that offers that classic, warm Irish hospitality people love, giving our regulars even more reason to stay local.”
The Snug is scheduled to open at Murphy’s Tavern in October.
