Mandarin Oriental has announced the opening of Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, welcoming its first guests to the luxury resort on the island’s southwest coast in Calvià. The property becomes the group’s third hotel in Spain, joining Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona and Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid.

Located close to the prestigious marina of Puerto Portals, the new resort occupies the historic site of the former Hotel Punta Negra. Surrounded by Aleppo pine trees, hidden coves and panoramic Mediterranean views, the redevelopment has been designed to preserve the spirit of the original property while introducing a contemporary luxury hospitality experience.
Set within extensive landscaped gardens and dramatic coastal surroundings, Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca offers 131 guestrooms and suites, alongside a collection of dining venues, wellness facilities and curated leisure experiences designed to connect guests with the destination.
The resort has been developed to reflect Mallorca’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, blending contemporary design with Mediterranean influences throughout its accommodation and public spaces.
Guests can arrive via an exclusive private yacht transfer service and enjoy a range of experiences tailored to the island lifestyle. These include access to nearby golf courses, cycling routes, tennis facilities and yoga sessions overlooking the coastline. An art pathway featuring galleries and site-specific installations also forms part of the guest experience.
Dining is positioned as a central element of the resort’s offering, celebrating Spain’s rich culinary traditions through a collection of restaurants led by internationally recognised chefs. Each venue has been designed to deliver a distinctive dining experience while showcasing local ingredients and regional influences.
Wellness also plays a significant role within the resort. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca combines Mediterranean traditions with Mandarin Oriental’s signature wellness philosophy, offering treatments and experiences focused on relaxation, balance and personal wellbeing.
To mark the opening, Mandarin Oriental has introduced a special “Be the First to Stay” accommodation package, allowing guests to experience the resort during its inaugural season.
With its combination of coastal location, luxury accommodation, gastronomy and wellness, Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca further strengthens the group’s presence in Spain and expands its portfolio of resort destinations across Europe.
