As interest in Asian drinks continues to blossom across the UK, Love Drinks is running two special Japanese tastings this spring in collaboration with The Golden Crane in Bristol.
An opportunity for bar owners, buyers, managers and mixologists to sample, engage and immerse themselves in a special selection of high-class Japanese libations, the tastings take place on the following dates:
- Japanese Whisky Tasting – 10th April, 1pm until 3pm – An exclusive tasting of the Kurayoshi Distillery’s Tottori Blended Whisky range and also the Matsui Single Malt trio including a Mizunara cask, a Sakura cask and Peated.
- Japanese White Spirit Tasting – 24th April, 1pm until 3pm – A special tasting featuring Kiyomi Rum, Etsu Gin and Eiko Vodka.
Between the two tastings, The Golden Crane will also be providing consumers with the opportunity to try and learn about the unique Japanese drinks through special menus running in April. The first runs from the 10th – 14th April and features a Matsui tasting flight and three specially created cocktails.
The two events will be held at The Golden Crane, 1 Unity Street, Bristol, BS1 5HH, and space is limited so to RSVP, email mike@lovedrinks.co.uk
Opening its doors in the heart of Bristol in 2023, The Golden Crane has wasted no time in putting itself firmly on the city’s quality cocktail map.
Set up by three friends – Ed Sargent, Kedar Subedi & Benjamin Salguero – who between them have over half a century of experience in hospitality, the venue’s drinks, attention to detail, craftsmanship, decor and service are all inspired by East Asia.
Between the two tastings, The Golden Crane will also be providing consumers with the opportunity to try and learn about the unique Japanese drinks through a bespoke menu, which launches on the 10th April.
A cocktail competition will also be taking place with a brief being provided at the first tasting and the winner announced at the second. Limited-edition bottles of Japanese drinks will be on offer for the winner.
Samantha Burke, MD of Love Drinks, said: “The Japanese wave is definitely upon us so it’s vital that we continue to engage with the on-trade, drive trial and educate on the intricacies of the various speciality drinks. It’s a huge honour to be linking up with the amazing team at The Golden Crane, who have quickly made a name for themselves and done brilliant things for Asian drinks. With the Cherry Blossom season kicking off in Japan and spring firmly in the air, we expect the two events to be over-subscribed so book your place quickly and don’t miss out.”
Co-founder of The Golden Crane Ed Sargent said: “Asian drinks have long been our passion so we’re extremely proud to be collaborating with Love Drinks and their Japanese brands to increase awareness of some of the incredible producers and help consumers discover some of the hidden gems from the Far East.”
