It is about best practice in all aspects of how we do business. Ensuring that company ethos and standards can be maintained for sustained periods of time. Mostly touching People, Planet and Profitability.
Team or staff, and why?
Team. Ultimately there is no singular role within hospitality that is not in some way dependent upon another.
Teamwork does make the dream work.
Where do you see hospitality’s priorities?
I believe the number one key priority for hospitality is re-building a sector that was better than the one that existed pre-pandemic.
For those businesses to have been able to survive this awful two years, there is a real opportunity to reset the old ways of thinking. Equity, Diversity and Inclusion being embedded across all parts of hospitality will make a notable difference. Accessing a larger talent pool, a broader supplier base and growing revenue through accessing previously untapped customers will contribute to re-building a better industry for sure.
Is hospitality local or global?
Hospitality is global, I have travelled extensively over the years, and no matter where you are in the world, customs and language may differ, but great hospitality feels the same.
What’s best about your weekend?
My weekends are generally filled with relaxation, self-care, lots of laughter, doing the things I most enjoy and spending time with loved ones.

Eat out or eat in?
I love both. I simply love food, and drink irrespective of whether eating out, or at home. If I had to choose, eat out!

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise our readers…
I am an author; I co-authored my first book at aged 7 called ‘My class visits the museum’. I really do think that the universe works in miraculous ways, as I intend it to be my first of many. Perhaps with a 30+ year gap between my first and second book!
