Dear Friends of Hospitality and every facet of it,
There is a tremendous buzz around social media as a consequence of Claire Bosi supported by various leaders within our industry requesting the government to appoint a Minister for Hospitality. And I can’t tell you how delighted I was to see the petition cross the required 100,000 signature line this morning. Congratulations to all who stood behind it and worked so hard to get the job done.
Hospitality is part of the very fabric of UK society and a key employer and revenue generator for Government. I have often wondered why Government has not created this post already especially as we are the UK’s third largest employer and such a vital stimulant for UK tourism.
It is of the utmost importance that hospitality is recognised by the appointment of a dedicated Minister for Hospitality, someone to hear our voices and understands the needs of our industry.
UKHospitality now has the most dynamic leader we could wish for in Kate Nicholls. What we now need, supported by the petition not only reaching its goal, but going way beyond it, is for Government to act on it.
I congratulate and thank all that have been part of getting to this landmark, and encourage the continuation of the campaign to ensure we do indeed gain a #SEATATTHETABLE.
