If you are part of the hospitality family and use social media it will have been impossible in the past week or so to have missed the Minister for Hospitality campaign.
The campaign started on 9 October when Claire Bosi, Editor, Chef & Restaurant Magazine initiated a UK Government and Parliament petition to Create a Minister for Hospitality.
The campaign got off to a great start, reaching 10k on the first day. It carried on well for the first week. And. Then. It dwindled…
Industry leaders like Harry Murray MBE, Chairman Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa, then in statesmanlike fashion stepped up to help maintain and build momentum.
Earlier this week saw Robin Hutson, Chairman & CEO, The Pig Hotel, alongside a group of ‘young’ management trainees within Home Grown Hotels create and launch #SEATATTHETABLE.
#SEATATTHETABLE is an online campaign to inform people of the petition and its importance to not only the hospitality industry, but the nation as a whole. The launch via a ZOOM conference brought more than 100 hospitality names together and set the campaign alight.
Only 5 days later and the 100,000 signatories required has not only been reached but substantially surpassed, 122,000 as we write.
So many across hospitality have come together to make this happen. The tactical decision to not only target the campaign to all within hospitality, but to those who enjoy it – our customers, played a crucial part in crossing the line. The video tweet below by James Martin underlines this perfectly. Treat yourself to watching it.
Please have a look at this and sign the petition and help us get to 100,000. If a small % of you that looked at my last message sign we would get there and way beyond. Spend just 1 minute to sign please…and thank you https://t.co/JgjeSZdMPc pic.twitter.com/en8cO9y1Dl
