Now in its eighth year, TripAdvisor’s Certificates of Excellence are awarded to businesses that deliver great service and consistently achieve high traveller reviews on TripAdvisor. This year, for the first time TripAdvisor have recognised the Global “Most Excellent” hotel chains.
The first hotel chain to be awarded Number One by TripAdvisor as their Global “Most Excellent” Large Hotel Chain is Preferred Hotels & Resorts.
A Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor is awarded to a hotel for consistency from the quality, quantity, and recency of guest reviews, the experience of the guest throughout their stay. So, for any hotel to be awarded with one is an accolade.
The consistency required to be awarded as the number one Global “Most Excellent” Large Hotel Chain (over 500 properties) takes the level of guest experience consistency to a whole different level.
Brenda Collin, Managing Director, UK, Ireland, Nordics & the Netherlands, Preferred Hotels & ResortsTo try and understand what that takes we picked up the phone and spoke with Preferred Hotels and Resorts Managing Director, UK, Ireland, Nordics & the Netherlands, Brenda Collin:
“For more than 50 years, we’ve been committed in our support for independent hotels and it is wonderful for this to be recognised!
“As a sales, marketing and distribution company, our model is largely service orientated. Instead of investing in the construction of properties, we invest in people and innovative technology that effectively supports the 700 independent hotels in our member portfolio so that they can continue to deliver authentic, one-of-a-kind experiences to travellers while maintaining high standards that are in line with our own.
“As part of the vetting process before a hotel is accepted into our portfolio, we look for a shared ethos, values and standards to ensure a mutually beneficial partnership. We conduct on-site inspections to ensure that prospective member hotels meet the criteria for each hotel collection and our standards of excellence. For existing member hotels, we use our unique Integrated Quality Assurance programme, which combines two tools to measure product and service standards: professional on-site evaluations, and a customised social media assessment tool to provide real-time quality assurance scores, customer feedback and performance analysis. As a result, we can ensure that every hotel meets our high standards of excellence.”
Neela Pal, vice president of brand marketing, TripAdvisor said of the awards:
“Travellers all over the world look to our Certificate of Excellence as a sign of consistently high quality service, and you’ll find these certificates proudly displayed in hotel windows and lobbies from one destination to the next.
“Now, for the first time in TripAdvisor’s history, we’re shining a light on the hotel chains – not just the individual properties – that have earned the most this year. Every single brand announced in our rankings today should be proud of the recognition they’re getting from our traveller community.”
Preferred Hotels & Resorts CEO Lindsey Ueberroth who told us:
“This “Most Excellent” award is testament to the dedication of our incredible member hotels who continuously inspire travellers by delivering genuine and memorable hospitality experiences in a way that only independent hotels can.
“We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition by the TripAdvisor community, and look forward to connecting even more travellers to the unique story that each of our hotels has to share.”
