This coming January, Brasserie Zédel will be transformed into a breath-taking concert hall for a one night only collaboration with The Philharmonia Orchestra. Having already played a series of intimate shows at Crazy Coqs, this is the first time the full Philharmonia Orchestra will perform at the venue surrounded by diners.
Partnering with Live At Zédel, The Philharmonia Orchestra has added accessible and varied evenings of musical entertainment to the already very diverse Autumn/Winter programme. Building on the success of this residency, January sees the Orchestra relocate to the Zédel brasserie for a Classical concert in the most beautiful of settings. Described as “a love letter to the classic Parisian Brasserie”, the grand Art Deco basement space will be filled with the sounds of Mozart, Britten, Gershwin and Sondheim. The natural acoustics of the room and the unique interiors will showcase the Orchestra like never before.
Founded in 1945 and named as one of the world’s great orchestras, The Philharmonia Orchestra, is widely renowned for its pioneering approach to the role of an orchestra in the 21st century. Performing over 160 performances a year, shows range from its home at the Southbank’s Royal Festival Hall to further afield including recent tours of West Coast US and Japan. The Philharmonia prides itself on its work with residencies, music education, audience development and the use of new technology to reach a global audience. Together with its relationships with the world’s most sought-after artists, most importantly its Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Esa-Pekka Salonen, the Philharmonia is at the heart of British musical life.
In the lead up to January, The Philharmonia Orchestra’s Live At Zédel residency continues with two further performances in December. Indulge in a unique opportunity to hear the Philharmonia cellists come together for a special late night performance on 9th December and witness a string trio take on perhaps the most famous composer of all time, Bach, on the 13th December.
Live At Zédel is a live music and entertainment concept that brings together all art forms under one roof. Having launched in September, the diverse programme merges up-and-coming talent with established acts, fusing genres and bringing a new energy to Soho’s nightlife scene.
