PG2GO has undergone a major design overhaul with new look double-walled cups and eye-catching point of sale, featuring Monkey on an ill-fated day trip – helping operators to boost sales.
The redesigned PG2GO takeaway cups aim to attract consumers who want to drink the nation’s favourite tea – almost a third of consumers say they would be more confident in the quality of tea out of home if they could see it was PG Tips, and that they would pay extra for the brand.
No heat sleeves
Making the PG2GO cups double-walled removes the need for heat sleeves, cutting down the number of components operators need to store. As well as saving space, the takeaway tea solution also helps caterers save time sourcing components: one case includes 300 cups, lids and PG tips tagged tea bags.
Positive benefits
The revamped PG2GO wins praise from independent operators, with Suzy and Mark Wain of Hot Roast Cafe and Farmhouse Bakery in Skegness saying:
“Since adding PG2GO to our menu, we’ve sold 60% more cups of tea, with a price increase of 10p per cup. With the point of sale and branded merchandise we were really able to shout to customers that we were serving their favourite tea.
“Before we started using PG2GO, our tea was priced below that of chain cafes. With the support of PG2GO we saw our tea sales rapidly grow, and the price increase we introduced went unnoticed by our customers!”
Rebecca Smith, category mix manager at Unilever Food Solutions commented:
“Whether they’re at home or grabbing a takeaway cup from a cafe or leisure kiosk, consumers want quality tea.”
Merchandising support
PG2GO’s range of fun and lively merchandising materials – from pavement signs, posters and loyalty kits to strut cards – features the well-known monkey taking part in an ill-fated range of leisure activities.
The attention-grabbing graphics – with strapline ‘at least you can rely on PG Tips’ – show the PG Tips hero Monkey experiencing a run of bad luck on a variety of days out, including at the seaside where it’s blowing a gale (above). It’s not all bad news, however, because Monkey can at least enjoy a cup of PG2GO.
