Forest Restaurant & Bar is celebrating the festive season with a touch of nostalgia this year, joining forces with chef and food writer Gizzi Erskine on a series of decadent feasting menus to kick start the Christmas party season. Available throughout December, the feasting menus are the perfect way to indulge and celebrate with family and friends this Christmas.
Gizzi has teamed up with Des McDonald and Group Executive Chef Lee Bull at Forest to create two lavish three course feasting menus, including several dishes from her latest cookbook, ‘Season’s Eatings’. Centered on the long-established pagan traditions of feasting and bringing people together, these epic sharing menus are the ideal way to add a unique festive touch to your Christmas parties.
Starters for the table to share include: Alpine salami cuts; Winter squash soup with truffle parmesan straws; and Cornish shellfish on ice. For the traditional festive experience, dive into a whole Slow Roast Spiced Turkey with Chestnut Stuffing & Pigs in Blankets, or branch out with an Asian spiced Goose with Prune Stuffing, Roast Grapes & Gingerbread Sauce. Guests can also indulge in a delicious Salmon en croute with prawn bisque sauce or Vegetarian Wellington with mushroom & truffle Duxelle.
To round off the decadent meal, guests can enjoy an ‘Epic’ cheese board from Selfridges’ cheese counter as well as a selection of Gizzi’s indulgent desserts, including: Clementine & gingerbread trifle; Sticky toffee Christmas pudding; Grapefruit curd pavlova; and Salted caramel yuletide log.
Gizzi says: “I’m delighted to be working with Des McDonald and Selfridges, to create two delicious feasting menus at Forest for the festive season. Feasting is a great way to celebrate Christmas – perfect for large groups of family and friends – and where better than on the roof of Selfridges!”
Des McDonald adds: “I’ve always wanted to collaborate with Gizzi on a project and the concept of her new book Season’s Eatings fits perfectly with our winter pop-up restaurant on Selfridges roof. Expect lots of large feasting dishes that are perfect to share during the festive party season.”
