The privately owned White Lion Hotel on Aldeburgh’s seafront has been selected to receive a coveted AA Silver Star Award for 2016 for its high standards of hotel keeping, superior level of quality, hospitality, service and cleanliness. This accreditation comes shortly after its sister hotel, the Brudenell, also in Aldeburgh, was granted a similar award last autumn.
In order to meet the AA’s criteria for a Silver Award, hotels must also have culinary excellence; the White Lion’s informal Brasserie Bleue has held one AA rosette for several years. It has a well-deserved reputation for offering great value, beautifully cooked, classic dishes with the bonus of an exciting French twist. The head chef and his team are passionate about using Suffolk’s natural larder from the sea and the region’s finest and freshest ingredients for their menus.
Delighted with the Silver Award, Peter Osborne, General Manager at the White Lion and Brudenell Hotels commented; “We owe both these fantastic awards to the hard work and dedication of our teams, they would never have been possible without them. My sincere thanks and congratulations to everyone involved.”
Now with the opening of Sea Spice, the White Lion is offering a choice of two vibrant restaurants catering for a variety of tastes. Bringing the diverse flavours of exotic Indian cuisine to the Suffolk seaside town, Sea Spice unites the finest local produce with classic and contemporary dishes originating some 4,000 miles away. A selection of local craft beers has also been chosen to complement the contemporary menu.
The 38 bedroom hotel, which is set opposite the beach and fishermen’s huts, has stunning sea views, yet it’s within an easy stroll of the town centre High Street shops and galleries.
