Whittlebury Park has outlined plans for a £4 million renewable energy investment as the Northamptonshire resort takes further steps towards reducing its reliance on the National Grid.

The first phase of the project represents an investment of £174,000 and will see a 231kWp solar system installed on the roof of The Atrium.
The installation is expected to generate enough electricity annually to power approximately 80 homes and reduce the resort’s carbon emissions by an estimated 80 tonnes each year.
The project marks the first stage of a wider sustainability programme at Whittlebury Park, with a further £4 million solar installation planned as the resort works towards its longer-term carbon neutrality ambitions.
Preconstruction work began on 21 September, with the main installation taking place throughout October.
LCS Energy is delivering the project, with final testing, commissioning and handover scheduled for 29 October.
Marc Webster, Commercial Director at Whittlebury Park, said: “This is a really exciting step forward for Whittlebury Park and something we have been working towards for some time. Investing in renewable energy is not just about reducing our environmental impact, but about making the resort more sustainable for the future.
“With this first phase now underway and much bigger plans ahead, our ambition is to eventually generate almost all of the electricity we need ourselves, significantly reducing our reliance on the National Grid.”
The project forms part of Whittlebury Park’s wider programme to reduce its carbon footprint while investing in the long-term future of the resort.
