The Beefy Boys is to open its eighth UK restaurant in Cambridge this winter as the independent burger brand continues its expansion.

The new restaurant will occupy the former BrewDog site at 15 Bene’t Street and is expected to open before Christmas following a refurbishment.
Cambridge will become The Beefy Boys’ most easterly location to date, joining restaurants in Hereford, Shrewsbury, Cheltenham, Bath, Oxford, Nottingham and Exeter.
The business also operates two mobile food trucks serving events across the UK.
The Beefy Boys was founded in 2011 by childhood friends Anthony ‘Murf’ Murphy, Daniel Mayo-Evans, Christian Williams and Lee Symonds.
The group gained international recognition after finishing second at the World Food Championships in Las Vegas in 2014.
It returned to the competition in Indianapolis in 2024, finishing fourth.
Speaking about the new launch, co-founder Anthony ‘Murf’ Murphy said:
“Cambridge has an exciting and diverse food scene, and it’s been one to watch for us for some time. We’ve been eyeing it up and when the former BrewDog site became available, we knew the time was right.
“We’re incredibly proud of how far The Beefy Boys has come. Just over ten years ago we were cooking burgers in our back gardens, and now we are opening our eighth restaurant. We can’t wait to bring what we do to Cambridge and become a part of the local community.”
The Cambridge menu will include established dishes such as the Beefy Boy Burger and Oklahoma Onion Boy Cali Style alongside loaded fries, buffalo wings, vegetarian and vegan options, sides and hard shakes.
The business uses 100% grass-fed beef sourced from its home county of Herefordshire and works with local suppliers where possible.
Further details on the Cambridge restaurant’s opening date will be announced ahead of launch.
