Award-winning hospitality group Heartwood Collection has acquired The Lord Byron in Trumpington, Cambridge.

The acquisition will see the site undergo a significant refurbishment and rebranding, reopening in late 2026 as The Meadow Lark, a 19 bedroom ‘pub with rooms’.
It will draw inspiration from the nearby Trumpington Meadows, a beautiful nature reserve alongside the River Cam as well as a gentle nod to the soaring skylark native to the area.
The extensive refurbishment will transform the pub’s bar and dining spaces into warm, welcoming interiors infused with Heartwood’s signature charm. Guests will be able to enjoy seasonally changing menus and a carefully curated drinks list in thoughtfully designed internal spaces, alongside an enhanced outdoor space that makes the most of the pub’s proximity to the picturesque Trumpington Meadows and Byron’s Pool.
The Meadow Lark will join Heartwood Collection’s growing portfolio of 35 characterful pubs and pubs with rooms, marking its first ‘pub with rooms’ in Cambridgeshire, as the Group continues its expansion.
Heartwood Collection holds the highest possible rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association (three stars) and won ‘Best Brand/Concept’ at the 2025 Publican Awards.
Richard Ferrier, CEO of Heartwood Collection, said:
“We are delighted to have acquired The Lord Byron in Trumpington and to be bringing it into the Heartwood family as The Meadow Lark. Inspired by the beautiful surrounding nature reserve, we look forward to creating a pub that truly reflects its landscape and community, somewhere guests can gather, dine and celebrate for many years to come.”
