Costa Coffee has opened a new café at The Liberty Romford, adding to the shopping centre’s growing food and beverage offer as owner and operator Redical reports increased trading performance and visitor numbers.

The new 4,069 sq ft café occupies a prominent entrance location within the shopping centre and provides seating for 90 customers. The opening expands the range of food and drink options available to visitors, joining established operators including Black Sheep Coffee and Pret a Manger.
The arrival of Costa Coffee follows continued growth in the centre’s food and beverage category, which Redical reports has recorded a 6% uplift compared with 2025.
The centre has also seen year-to-date footfall increase by 6.4%, reflecting wider activity across the destination as Redical continues to develop its retail, food and beverage offering.
The new café provides additional space for customers to eat, drink and socialise alongside their shopping visits, supporting the centre’s strategy to encourage longer stays and repeat visits.
Dan Tucker, Leasing Manager at Redical, commented: “The opening of Costa Coffee not only enriches our café offer, but also The Liberty as a whole. It serves as another vote of confidence in the destination, demonstrating that leading brands continue to recognise its desirability, and role in serving the needs of the local community. We know this will bolster our already outperforming café category, giving visitors more reasons to dwell, shop, and socialise at The Liberty.”
Costa Coffee’s opening follows the recent arrival of Danish variety retailer Flying Tiger Copenhagen, further expanding the centre’s retail offer.
Both brands are located close to one another within the East Mall, with Redical seeking to strengthen visitor numbers and encourage movement between the centre’s retail and hospitality operators.
Cushman & Wakefield and Green & Partners acted for The Liberty Romford, while Costa Coffee was represented by RAB Property Consultancy.
