Admiral Taverns Increases Pub Investment to £38.4 Million for FY27

October 14, 2026

Admiral Taverns has confirmed a £38.4 million capital investment programme for FY27 as it increases spending across its community pub estate for a second consecutive year.

Admiral Taverns £38.4 million investment

Backed by Proprium Capital Partners, the programme will support investment across Admiral’s nationwide portfolio of community pubs and follows £34.1 million of capital expenditure during FY26.

The investment will be delivered in partnership with licensees and operators and will range from larger redevelopment projects to smaller improvements including pub gardens, function rooms and kitchen upgrades.

Chris Jowsey, CEO of Admiral Taverns, said: “Investing in our community pubs has always been core to our strategy to ensure long-term, sustainable pubs which serve their communities and deliver positive impacts to our licensees, operators and their communities. In more challenging trading conditions, and at a time when we are seeing many pubs shut their doors for good, this investment is even more critical, and I’m pleased to see the positive impacts of capex projects coming through.

Our increased FY27 budget represents more exciting plans to come as we continue to support and empower our licensees.”

Recent investments highlighted by Admiral include Y Pentan in Mold, North Wales.

The Proper Pubs venue underwent a significant refurbishment in 2021 and has subsequently reached more than £1 million in sales.

Admiral has also invested in The Crown in Fordham, which reopened in November 2025 following an extended rebuilding programme.

The pub initially operated as a drinks-only venue during the festive period before introducing its food offer in January 2026.

According to Admiral, weekly sales at The Crown are consistently above £20,000 and the venue is on course to reach £1 million in sales during its first year following reopening.

Further projects are planned under the FY27 investment programme, with details to be announced subject to relevant approvals and agreements.

Proper Pubs, Admiral Taverns’ operator-managed division, is also investing an additional £600,000 in operator incentives.

The programme is designed to share rewards with pub partners as their businesses meet performance targets, while new targets are also being introduced for pubs facing wider cost pressures.

Nathan Wall, Managing Director of Proper Pubs, commented: “Whilst Admiral’s investment stretches across both leased and tenanted and operator managed pubs, in the Proper Pubs division we’ve really focused on challenging our operators this year to hit the magic milestone of £1 million in sales, and introduced internal incentives to support this. I’m thrilled the Y Pentan has reached this, and it is a real testament to the hard work of the operator building on the potential the refurbishment created.

Congratulations to Stephanie and all the team, and we look forward to more pubs reaching this milestone.”

The FY27 programme will continue Admiral Taverns’ investment across its leased and tenanted estate and its Proper Pubs operator-managed division.
