September 14, 2026

Hotel Wrexham and The Savvy Fox Pub have been awarded four-star accreditation by Visit Wales.

The recognition follows significant investment in the property since the former Holt Lodge Hotel was acquired in May 2024.

Visit Wales’ accreditation assesses areas including accommodation, facilities, service and the overall guest experience.

Savvy Collective supported the £1.6m acquisition of the property and has subsequently invested a further £1m.

Peter Schriewersmann, Commercial Director of Hotel Wrexham and The Savvy Fox Pub, said: “This is one of those real milestone moments.

“Ever since we came to Wrexham and acquired the old Holt Lodge Hotel in 2024, we have tried to make things better and, importantly, play our part in the community.

“Today’s announcement gives Hotel Wrexham and The Savvy Fox, and the whole team who put so much effort in every day, some independent recognition. That means a huge amount to all of us.

“We love being in Wrexham and will continue to play our part, striving to make the hotel, restaurant and the town itself an even better place to visit, work and live.

“Thank you to everyone in Wrecsam who has supported and encouraged us on the journey so far. Let’s keep going.”

The business has reported growth across its hotel and wider hospitality operations following the investment.

Total revenue has increased from just under £1m in 2022/23 to a forecast £2m in 2026/27.

Hotel occupancy has risen from 53.2% in 2022 to a forecast 78% in 2026, while the workforce has grown from 13 to approximately 40 employees.

The operation has also expanded its food and drink, weddings, events and community offer, including the introduction of summer music festivals.

Steven Hesketh, Founder of Savvy Collective, said: “The four-star accreditation is particularly important because it is independent recognition of the progress the team has made.

“When we acquired Holt Lodge, we saw an opportunity to invest in the property, create something that would be commercially successful, but also become a genuine part of the Wrexham community.

“That investment is now translating into a stronger business, more jobs, higher occupancy and a much broader hospitality offer, from food and drink to weddings, events and community activity.

“We are ambitious for Hotel Wrexham and The Savvy Fox, but we are equally ambitious for Wrexham. The town has enormous potential as a visitor destination, and businesses like ours have a responsibility to help realise that potential.

“This accreditation is recognition of how far we have come, but it is not the finishing line. We will continue to invest, improve and create an experience that gives people another reason to visit Wrexham – and another reason to come back.”

Savvy Collective has also continued to invest elsewhere in Wrexham.

The group recently opened the ground floor of the former Old Library on Queen’s Street as Queen’s Square Social.

The venue combines food, drink, entertainment and community events within the redeveloped city-centre building.

Savvy Collective is also refurbishing The Old Registry on Chester Street as part of its wider investment in Wrexham’s hospitality sector.
