Chef and restaurateur Atul Kochhar will lead a Diwali culinary residency at Patina Maldives, Fari Islands, from 7 to 9 November 2026.

The residency will see Kochhar bring the culinary identity of his London restaurant Kanishka by Atul Kochhar to the resort’s Helios restaurant.
Menus will draw on regional Indian cooking traditions, combining them with the contemporary techniques that have shaped Kochhar’s restaurants.
Kochhar has spent more than 30 years working in Indian cuisine and became the first Indian chef to receive a Michelin star in 2001, before receiving a second in 2007.
His approach combines the food traditions and regional diversity of India with contemporary restaurant cooking.
Rather than recreating Kanishka in its entirety, the Patina Maldives residency will interpret elements of Kochhar’s culinary approach for the setting and occasion, with the programme taking place during Diwali.
Kochhar currently leads the Atul Kochhar Hospitality Group, whose restaurant portfolio includes Kanishka in Mayfair, Vaasu and Sindhu in Marlow, Riwaz in Beaconsfield, Masalchi in Wembley Park, Indian Essence in Petts Wood and Essence in Tunbridge Wells.
The residency forms part of Patina Maldives’ programme of culinary experiences bringing visiting chefs and different international food cultures to the Fari Islands resort.
Kochhar’s dinners at Helios will run from 7 to 9 November 2026.
