THE NICI Awarded Five AA Stars in Bournemouth First Since 2000

August 6, 2026

THE NICI in Bournemouth has been awarded Five AA Stars following a comprehensive inspection, returning the rating to the seaside town for the first time since 2000.

THE NICI

The recognition makes THE NICI Bournemouth’s first Five AA Star hotel in 26 years.

The coastal resort opened in summer 2022 as the first property under THE NICI brand.

Its latest inspection recognised the hotel’s resort-style approach, ocean-view bedrooms and suites, interiors, food and beverage offer, leisure facilities and service.

South Beach, the hotel’s principal restaurant, holds one AA Rosette, while THE NICI Spa has received the AA’s Recommended Spa designation.

Facilities at the cliffside property include a 30-metre heated outdoor swimming pool and a spa and wellness area.

Nicolas Roach, Founder of THE NICI, said: “Receiving Five AA Stars is a historic moment for THE NICI and a monumental milestone for Bournemouth.

“When we set out to create THE NICI, our vision was to bring five stars back to this beautiful coastal town.

“This award is a testament to the dedication, passion and relentless hard work of our whole team, who deliver world-class hospitality to our guests every day.”

The achievement follows continued investment in the property since its opening and the development of its accommodation, dining, spa and leisure offer.

Lukasz Dwornik, Managing Director of THE NICI Group, said: “Since day one, THE NICI was built to be a vibrant, high-energy escape where a new standard of hospitality meets fun, lifestyle and design on the coast.

“Securing Five AA Stars across the hotel, spa and dining proves the vibe is landing.

“A huge thanks to the team who made this happen. We’re just getting started, and we’re here to redefine what modern hospitality looks like.”

AA hotel ratings are based on inspections covering areas including hospitality, service, bedrooms, bathrooms, cleanliness, food and public areas.

Simon Numphud, Managing Director at AA Media, said: “THE NICI’s achievement of Five AA Stars reflects a sustained commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience.

“Since the hotel’s creation, there has been continuous investment and a clear focus on refining every aspect of the offering.

“Five-Star status recognises not just excellence on the day of inspections, but several years of consistently high standards, meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to quality.

“We are delighted to recognise THE NICI with Five AA Stars, marking an important milestone for both the hotel and Bournemouth’s hospitality offering.”

The award comes as THE NICI Group expands its portfolio across the UK.

THE NICI New Forest in Lymington and THE NICI Newquay opened in June 2026, following the redevelopment of the former Elmers Court Hotel and Hotel Victoria respectively.

A further property at Town Quay in Southampton is also planned.
