Trenchers Bowness-on-Windermere will officially open its doors on Saturday 11 July 2026, bringing the UK’s No.1 fish and chips to a new audience in the Lake District.

The opening marks an important milestone for the multi-award-winning Trenchers brand, as its first restaurant outside the North East.
The new 100-seat restaurant will open seven days a week from 11.30am until 9pm, with takeaway service available throughout the same hours.
The venue is expected to serve up to 600 guests each day.
From traditional fish and chips and seafood dishes to vegan fish and chips, Goan curry and slow-cooked steak pie, Trenchers Bowness has been designed to offer a broad menu for locals and visitors.
Craig Ripley, General Manager of Trenchers Bowness-on-Windermere, said: “Trenchers is so much more than your average chippy. Guests can, of course, enjoy our famous fish and chips, but there’s plenty more to discover as our menu is designed to suit every appetite and occasion.
“Alongside your fish and chip favourites, diners can also enjoy dishes including Greek salad, prawn cocktail, fish pie and house burgers.
“To finish, there are indulgent desserts such as cheesecake, chocolate fudge cake and our own take on the Cumbrian classic, sticky toffee pudding.”
The menu will also feature gluten-free options, vegan burgers and vegan sausages, alongside a dedicated Little Skippers Menu for younger diners.
The opening brings Trenchers’ award-winning offer to one of the UK’s most popular visitor destinations, expanding the brand’s reach while adding a new food-led hospitality experience for Bowness-on-Windermere.
