Chef-Patron Larry Jayasekara has appointed Kushal Rai as Head Chef at The Cocochine, with the promotion taking immediate effect.

Rai joined the Mayfair restaurant as Junior Sous Chef when The Cocochine opened in 2024 and has played an important role in the development of its ingredient-led menus. His promotion recognises both his culinary ability and his contribution to the restaurant’s collaborative kitchen culture.
Originally from Nepal, Rai built his experience at several of London’s leading restaurants before joining The Cocochine. His previous roles include positions at The Goring, A Wong and Restaurant Story, where he developed his expertise in modern British and fine dining cuisine.
Commenting on the appointment, Larry Jayasekara said: “Not only does Kushal have a superb palate and impressive cooking skills, but he is a dedicated and loyal team player. He also fully understands the vital role that our supply chain – particularly Rowler Estate in Northamptonshire and Tanera Mòr in Scotland – plays in our ongoing menu development.”
The promotion further strengthens The Cocochine’s leadership team as the restaurant continues to build its reputation for showcasing exceptional seasonal produce sourced from trusted suppliers across the UK.
