Hospitality Action has announced a record year of support, with its latest Impact Report revealing that the charity’s financial impact exceeded £1.5 million during 2025 – the first time it has reached the milestone in its 189-year history.

The record figure includes £1.05 million in cash grants, awarded to 825 households to help hospitality workers and retirees facing financial hardship. The grants supported essential costs including rent and utility arrears, rehousing expenses, mobility equipment and winter fuel payments.
A further £537,000 was secured through previously unclaimed state benefits, thanks to Hospitality Action’s specialist in-house benefits support service. The charity is now on course to match every pound distributed through its grants programme with an equivalent amount of additional benefit entitlement secured for those it supports.
Alongside financial assistance, Hospitality Action expanded its wider welfare services, referring more individuals than ever before to specialist debt advisers and housing advocacy partners to ensure families receive practical guidance alongside emergency financial support.
Mark Lewis, Chief Executive of Hospitality Action, said the milestone reflected both the scale of the charity’s work and the increasing pressures facing hospitality employees.
He said the figures also highlighted the growing emotional and financial challenges experienced across the industry, noting that Hospitality Action delivered almost 3,000 counselling sessions during the year – a 16% increase on 2024 – demonstrating that the support people require extends well beyond financial assistance.
Lewis added that exceeding £1.5 million in overall financial impact for the first time, alongside the significant increase in securing previously unclaimed benefits, reflects both the generosity of supporters and the rising demand for the charity’s services.
Mental health support continued to play an increasingly important role in the charity’s work. Through its industry-specific Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), Hospitality Action now provides on-demand wellbeing support to more than 200,000 hospitality workers across the UK.
During 2025, the programme responded to more than 8,000 requests for help and delivered around 3,000 specialist counselling sessions, highlighting the increasing demand for accessible mental health support within the hospitality sector.
The EAP also introduced a new GP and Advanced Nurse Practitioners Service, giving hospitality employees faster access to primary healthcare, helping reduce absenteeism and enabling individuals to receive support before health concerns become more serious.
The latest Impact Report underlines Hospitality Action’s growing role in supporting hospitality professionals through financial hardship, emotional wellbeing and wider welfare services, as demand for assistance continues to increase across the industry.
