citizenM has opened citizenM Washington, D.C. Georgetown, the brand’s third hotel in the U.S. capital and the first to launch since citizenM joined Marriott Bonvoy.

The 230-room property, which opened in June 2026, represents a milestone for the brand following Marriott International’s acquisition of citizenM. Guests staying at citizenM hotels can now earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points, while members of citizenM’s mycitizenM+ programme receive instant Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status.
Located in Georgetown, one of Washington’s oldest and most recognisable neighbourhoods, the hotel is within walking distance of the waterfront, Georgetown University and the area’s shops, cafés and restaurants.
Designed by citizenM’s long-standing architectural partner, Concrete Amsterdam, the hotel features the brand’s signature design-led approach, combining contemporary interiors with technology-focused guest rooms and communal spaces.
Facilities include a 24-hour canteenM food and beverage outlet, a gym, co-working and lounge spaces, and commissioned artwork, including a mural by Washington-based artist J.D. Deardourff.
Guest rooms have been designed around citizenM’s compact luxury concept, featuring wall-to-wall XL king-size beds, smart-room controls operated via an in-room iPad, rain showers, high-speed Wi-Fi and 4K televisions with streaming capability.
Peggy Roe, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer, Marriott International, said: “citizenM has always been a brand that sees travel differently. It understands that today’s travelers are looking for more than a place to stay – they want to feel connected to the energy, culture, and character of the places they visit. With the opening of citizenM Washington, D.C. Georgetown, guests are invited into one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods through a hospitality experience that is thoughtful, design-forward, and unmistakably human.
“The moments that define a journey are rarely the ones on an itinerary. They’re the unexpected discoveries, meaningful connections, and sense of belonging that travel makes possible. Those are the experiences that stay with people for years, and they’re the foundation of the lasting relationship we aspire to build with every guest.”
Satya Anand, Group President, U.S., Canada and the Caribbean and Latin America at Marriott International, added: “The opening of citizenM Washington, D.C. Georgetown – the first citizenM to debut under the Marriott Bonvoy umbrella – is an especially exciting milestone marking not only our continued momentum in North America, but a new chapter right in Marriott’s own backyard.
“We’re offering new and unique ways for guests to experience everything citizenM has to offer.”
Lennert de Jong, Chief Executive Officer of Another Star, said: “We are thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of our third Washington, D.C. location.
“Georgetown is widely recognized as a creative and cultural hub within the city – we are excited to become part of this community. With our prime location and locally inspired works of art, citizenM Washington, D.C. Georgetown will be the go-to spot for residents and travelers alike.”
The opening further strengthens citizenM’s presence in North America while expanding Marriott Bonvoy’s offering within the lifestyle and extended-stay hotel sectors.
