By Angela Green: Heartwood announce latest acquisition.
Heartwood Collection, backed by Alchemy Partners, has acquired The Prince of Wales pub in East Barnet. Following the acquisition of the pub Heartwood Collection remains on track to grow to over 60 inns and brasseries by June 2027.
The Prince of Wales is an historic pub (first opening in 1876) in the centre of East Barnet village. As the village’s last remaining pub, Heartwood Inns will be undertaking a multi-million pound refurbishment to ensure it remains at the heart of the local community for many years to come.
The refurbishment will mean the enhancement of a large welcoming bar and dining room with a combined capacity of 150 covers. Outside, the space will be transformed to create a terrace for up to 55 covers.
Guests will be able to enjoy Heartwood’s seasonally-changing menu which is developed in line with the Group’s ethos for delivering sustainable, fresh food. This sits neatly alongside a carefully selected wine list, cask ales, beers and cocktails.
The acquisition of the pub follows the recent news that Heartwood Inns had acquired The Royal Forest in Epping Forest. With 28 bedrooms, The Royal Forest is scheduled to open in the autumn and will take the Group’s room offering to over 175 rooms by the end of 2024.
Richard Ferrier, CEO, Heartwood Collection, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to acquire what is clearly a much-loved local at the heart of East Barnet village. We will now embark on an ambitious development for the pub to ensure that The Prince of Wales remains a hub for the local community for years to come.”
