By Denis Sheehan FIH: The Crumbs Project celebrate accomplishments of trainees at annual awards ceremony.
The Crumbs Project held its annual Awards Lunch last Friday at the Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth.
Over 20 trainees were honoured for completing Institute of Hospitality endorsed training programmes and recognised for their achievements over the past year.
The trainees received awards for completing the Crumbs foundation programme and individual units in food production, bakery, housekeeping, and digital skills. Trainees also earned Crumbs certificates for excellent performance, most improved trainee, perfect timekeeping, most positive attitude, as well as many other notable accomplishments.
“We are so proud of these hard-working trainees,” said Ursula Boardman, The Head of the Crumbs Project. “They have shown dedication and passion for developing their skills despite facing the many barriers to employment. Our programme gives them the tools and confidence they need to attain fulfilling careers in hospitality and be able to live independently.”
The Awards Lunch provides an opportunity to be able to celebrate and recognise the significant personal achievements of the adults with a range of learning and mental health issues that are Crumbs trainees.
Professor Peter Jones MBE, Chair of Crumbs said: “The growth in self-esteem and confidence is remarkable, our trainees can and do make a real difference when they are employed in the industry. We just need to persuade more employers of the very valuable contribution they can bring.”
The Crumbs Project provides hospitality training, work placements, interview coaching, and other employment support for adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues.
