By Angela Green, Content Executive, H&C News: Julia Sibley announces departure as CEO of The Savoy Educational Trust.
The Savoy Educational Trust has started the recruitment process for a new Chief Executive after Julia Sibley MBE announced her intention to leave the role at the end of the year.
As a champion and leader of the Trust for almost 25 years, Sibley has seen the delivery of over £20million worth of grants to support a wide array of educational and professional development projects within the hospitality industry as well as social enterprises and charities. Last year, almost £1.74million was awarded to those seeking funding to improve standards, education and innovation.
In 2021, The Savoy Educational Trust awarded a £1m grant to The Springboard Charity in support of the charity’s Springboard to 2022 – Futureproofing the Talent Pipeline for Hospitality project. This £1m grant was the single largest award ever made by Trustees in its 60-year history and this grant directly helped over 1,000 young people into work across the hospitality industry.
The Savoy Educational Trust chair, Howard Field, said: “As Chief Executive, Julia has been a tireless force for good in hospitality, steering the trust through some challenging times to support wide-ranging projects designed to promote the advancement of hospitality skills.
“We thank Julia for her ongoing dedication to the industry, to the trust and the development of hospitality careers and wish her all the very best with her future endeavours.”
The other vital half of the team, Administrator and Secretary to the Trustees, Margaret Georgiou, who has worked closely with Julia throughout, will continue to play a key role in the running of the Trust.
