Over £1million in orders was placed by Country Range Group members at their latest Virtual Business Development Day, which took place on 23rd and 24th June.
The event, which is run in a speed networking format with sessions lasting thirty minutes each, proved a huge success once more and was attended by 16 suppliers including Unilever, Modelez, KP and Kerry, as well as over 100 delegates from CRG member wholesalers.
The content of the virtual sessions ranged from new product development to specific meetings focusing on product performance and future business plans. Suppliers were also able to send samples in advance to delegates to make the sessions as interactive as possible.
New products featured at the event included a Sourdough Loaf from Delifrance, a Coconut Drink from Cognosco and Malt Wheats from Weetabix.
Stephanie Spain, Ornua Ingredients Europe (UK) Limited, said: “It was fantastic to be involved with the Country Range Group’s latest Virtual Business Development Days and we got so much out of the meetings we were a part of. With Covid-19 causing issues for so many foodservice businesses, it’s brilliant to see events such as these returning and having a positive impact on our future activity and plans.”
Country Range Group Marketing Manager Kate Bancroft commented: “The feedback from our members and suppliers regarding our VBDD events has been extremely positive so it was fantastic that our latest event proved such a big hit with a staggering £1million in orders placed. With many foodservice suppliers being hit the hardest during the pandemic, it’s vital that events like these continue so they can communicate with our member wholesalers. With more events in the pipeline, there’s still time for other suppliers to take part and benefit so get in touch.”
Further Virtual Business Development Days are to be run by the Country Range Group later in the year as part of their Virtual Events Programme and any suppliers interested in being involved are asked to email enquiries@countryrange.co.uk or to contact their usual Country Range Group trading contact if they are already an existing supplier to the Group.

The Group is also working to remove “Problem Plastics” from their range such as black plastic by the end of 2021, of which there has been over 30 tonnes removed from the range so far. Alongside this, CRG will also move away from white cardboard in order to increase the level of recycled material in the outer cases used.
