A government capable of prioritising flying pets to sanctuary ahead of human beings leaves zero hope for businesses expecting any departure from policy only dependant upon votes. Votes from xenophobes that want to ensure ‘Johnny Foreigner’ has no place in British society.
Brexit and “getting Brexit done” was never anything other than feeding fear, fear that someone else may do better than you. Undiluted hatred of anyone not associated with Eton privilege. Defending such an outlook has become the thinly veiled but very effective modus operandi of both government and Whitehall. The later to its shame discarding any claim to political neutrality.
Just imagine the consternation of the PM and his cohort of carefully selected imbecilic cabinet ministers of a world outside of their understanding having any influence on world affairs, affairs beyond their comprehension. People prepared to roll their sleeves up and attempt to stand on their own two feet. People who say what they think rather than what they think people want to hear.
Government panders to votes, and policy extends no further than attracting votes. If twitter polls suggest the need to find sanctuary for a cat or a dog will garner more votes than allowing an Afghanistan man to avoid being beheaded, so be it.
We are caught in a situation where the cost to any individual outside of the PM’s esoteric ambitions is discarded to obscurity, he revels in it, and he revels in it being there for all to see, he trusts you won’t and can’t do anything about it. It would acknowledge he had one over on you.
A clever mind game that he continues to win.
