McDonald’s are recruiting an additional 20,000 hospitality jobs across the UK and Ireland to staff 50 new restaurant outlets. But, like many others in hospitality are finding the process more difficult than pre-pandemic.
With 1,400 restaurant outlets across the UK and Ireland already employing 130,000 people, adding 50 more outlets requiring 20,000 job roles being filled is quite some task.
The restaurant chain is focusing on quality in their recruitment drive making sure they attract high calibre individuals. Their US parent is experiencing similar challenges in reopening and opening new restaurant outlets raising wages on average by 10%.
McDonald’s UK and Ireland has emphasised that it pays everyone of all age groups above the national living wage.
The expansion plan will see more of a focus on regional new openings with High Streets remaining a high priority for new openings also.
New menu developments are expected alongside new layouts catering for learning from the customer flow experience of the pandemic, and adjusting accordingly.
