EHAP, an approved end-point assessment organisation providing support to apprentices, employers, and training providers, has appointed Debbie Gardiner MBE as non-executive director.
A seasoned training and development professional, Gardiner is tasked with supporting the governance of the organisation, and offering strategic guidance specifically on equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
She will also support the company’s Ofqual accreditation process as part of her role.
Gardiner, who has extensive experience of supporting people development strategies for a diverse range of businesses, is the founder and director of DSG L&M Consultancy Services where she provides a range of leadership, governance, oversight, management, and consultancy services, focusing on apprenticeships and further education.
Prior to that, Gardiner worked in various senior roles, including as managing director, and later CEO of Qube Learning, where she led the company through significant growth and change. She is also a non-executive director for four independent training providers (ITPs) and an apprenticeship training agency.
She was named East of England, IoD Non-Executive Director of the Year in 2018.
Gardiner said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining EHAP as their non-executive director. I’m passionate about apprenticeships as a vehicle to successful careers and believe that professional and effective end-point assessment has a key role to play. It’s not just the end of the apprenticeship programme – it’s also the steppingstone to the next part of the journey.
“Joining EHAP just as we are starting to emerge from the lockdown is a privilege and such a perfect fit with my values. Whilst my focus will be on governance, EDI, and strategy, I’ll always have the best interest of apprentices and their employers in my mind and will never lose sight of why we do what we do.”
Dan Power, director, EHAP, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Debbie to the team. At this crucial time in our development, to have someone with Debbie’s experience, energy and wisdom join us is a game-changer.
“It was clear very early in our conversations that we had shared values and these aligned perfectly with that of EHAP. As a result of Debbie’s work with other end-point assessment organisations, I know that her knowledge and strategic guidance will add huge value to our board.
“Most importantly, I trust Debbie to challenge us to be the best that we can be.”
