Steve Double, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay has been re-elected as Chairman of the influential All Party Parliamentary Group for Hospitality and Tourism.
All Party Parliamentary Groups operate in Parliament and are comprised of MPs who work across political parties to support a particular sector or cause.
Steve has been Chair of the APPG, formerly known as the Visitor Economy APPG, since he was first elected in 2015.
Commenting Double said: “I am delighted and honoured that my colleagues from across Parliament have put their faith in me and once again re-elected me as Chair of the Hospitality and Tourism All Party Parliamentary Group.
“This past year has been a challenge like no other for these vital sectors, not just for Cornwall, but around the UK, and the work of the APPG has been even more important than ever before. I have been pleased to work with colleagues to successfully make the case to the Government for unprecedented levels of support for the tourism and hospitality businesses during the pandemic.
“There is more work to be done as we recover from the pandemic and I look forward to continuing to work with colleagues in Parliament and the sectors, both locally and nationally, to ensure they are able to bounce back ready for a bumper summer season in 2021 and beyond.”
H&C News would like to congratulate Steve Double on his re-election and look forward to reporting further on his work leading the All Party Parliamentary Group for Hospitality and Tourism.
