An award-winning Aberdeen hotel is set to slide into action in the local ice hockey world, after signing what is believed to be the first sponsorship deal of its kind.
The four-star Aberdeen Altens Hotel has just inked a sponsorship deal for the 2018/19 season with the North East of Scotland’s premier ice hockey club, Aberdeen Lynx.
The four-figure deal is believed to be a first for the Scottish National League (SNL) with the hotel becoming a club shirt sponsor, and offering special rates for home and travelling supporters and teams when visiting Aberdeen.
The Aberdeen Altens Hotel occupies a prime location on the south side of the city and is its largest hotel by number of bedrooms. It has been the focus of investment totalling £6 million in the last five years. A drive to do things differently and maintain a fresh, exciting approach to all areas of the business has resulted in a growing reputation for innovative guest services and creative, customer-focused delivery.
Ranked as one of the top hotels in Scotland at this year’s Prestige Hotel awards, the Aberdeen Altens Hotel is also a finalist in the “Customer First” category of this year’s Northern Star Business Awards. Additionally, it consistently features in the top ten hotels in Aberdeen on TripAdvisor.
Commenting on the deal, Kris Manship of The Aberdeen Altens Hotel said: “We were thrilled to have this exciting opportunity to support a dynamic and thriving local sporting organisation. We hope that we can help play a part in its continued growth and success at all levels, and we look forward to cheering the team on throughout the forthcoming season.”
Aberdeen Lynx chairperson Martin Hill added: “We are absolutely delighted to work with the Aberdeen Altens Hotel and our partnership is a very exciting tie-in with another local business held in high regard in the city and beyond.
“We look forward to welcoming staff and guests to the Linx Arena, and to benefiting from the excellent deal which has been put in place for ice hockey visitors to the area.”
Aberdeen Lynx is a non-profit organisation which is run by a small elected committee of volunteers. It has a pool of over 100 registered male and female players who have recorded considerable success in recent campaigns. In the 2015/16 season the senior men’s team won its first trophy, becoming the SNL play-off champions. In 2016/17 they were placed as the League runners up by just one point.
