A joint venture between Countryside and Hyde have forward sold the 81-bed Travelodge Hotel at Rochester Riverside to Rochester Hotel General Partner and Rochester Hotel Nominee, for £8 million.
Rochester Riverside is an exciting new development in Rochester, Kent that stretches from Rochester Bridge along the River Medway. The area will be developed over the next 11 years and once complete will comprise 1,400 homes, a foodstore, retail units, a nursery and a new school. 25% of the new homes being built on the development will be affordable.
The development will connect the River Medway to the town centre and will provide four distinct new neighbourhoods complete with mixed tenure homes and ten acres of green, open spaces. Residents will also benefit from a 2.5 kilometre public riverside walkway.
Andy Fancy, Managing Director for Partnerships, Countryside, comments:
“We are excited to be welcoming a brand new Travelodge Hotel to Rochester Riverside. It complements the development perfectly and is ideally located for anyone travelling into Rochester. Guests who are there for business will be right next to Rochester station and adjacent to the A2, while those travelling for leisure are only a 5 minute walk to historic Rochester High Street and the stunning waterfront.”
David Gannicott, Director of Business Development at Hyde says:
“We are delighted that a Travelodge Hotel will be coming to Rochester Riverside. It is a great addition to the community we are creating there and the location couldn’t be more perfect for people visiting the town.”
Tony O’Brien, Travelodge UK Property Director says:
“We are delighted to have secured an 81-bed hotel in Rochester on this highly visible site next to Rochester Station.
“The local economy and population is growing at pace and with increasing visitor numbers to the area, there is a major shortage of good quality accommodation at a great value price. The new Travelodge will provide this in a great location”.
Construction of the new Travelodge Hotel has already begun on site, with completion due in Q3 2019. The hotel will be a vital part of Rochester Riverside and reflects the continued evolution of Rochester.
