MCFT’s award winning training programmes officially recognised by City & Guilds

September 21, 2018

Maidenhead based catering maintenance company, MCFT is delighted and proud to have four in-house training schemes accredited by City & Guilds.

The ‘Assured’ scheme is a joint venture between City & Guilds and ILM that recognises world class in-house training.

MCFT has been awarded ‘Assured’ status for 4 programmes including Leadership Academy (UK and Gulf region), Commercial Kitchen Technician (Gulf region), Commercial Catering Engineer (UK) and Commercial Fridge Engineer (UK).

This means the programmes have been assessed against best practice standards with 5 key components: design and delivery, planning and management, employee/learner support, quality assurance; evaluation and continuous development.

MCFT operates throughout the UK, servicing high end commercial kitchens in business, education, sports and leisure and healthcare. It also has a growing presence in the Gulf region with offices in Dubai, Qatar and Doha servicing restaurant chains and hotels as well as businesses.

The training that the engineers receive is unparalleled in the industry ensuring an efficient and effective service for customers. All employees, from apprentices to those aspiring to senior leadership roles will be able to access at least one of the programmes, confident that they are undergoing high quality, thorough training and development that will benefit them for the rest of their career – and they’ll have a City & Guilds certificate to prove it!

Development Director, Karen McDonagh points out

“This accreditation will not only benefit our current employees, but will support our recruitment of trainees, improvers, engineers and graduates who value training and development.”

CEO Chris Craggs concludes:

“Following on from Investors in People and our Princess Royal Training Award, this is vindication of over a decade of commitment – setting out to make sure that we have the most comprehensive, thorough, best-delivered and rigorously assessed development programmes in our industry.

And, the only externally-endorsed industry-specific learning programme in our field, there being no apprenticeships for catering technicians.

I am particularly proud that we have four Assured programmes, covering our teams in the Middle East as well as our Team Leader development – we haven’t cherry-picked, we’ve applied the same stringent approach across all our Learning and Development and across all our people.

This accreditation is not lightly-awarded – as anyone reading the 26-page assessment report will see.

Thank you to our Learning & Development team, especially our Development Director Karen McDonagh, our Technical Leads Paul & Matt, the select external providers who round out our programmes – and the trainees whose visible growth and development provide the feedback loop which fans the flames.”

The next engineer trainee programme starts in January 2019 with the focus on finding recruits in London, the home counties, Surrey, Birmingham & Manchester.
