Andrew Green, the former Executive Chef at Manchester’s The Lowry Hotel, has confirmed that he is moving to be part of a new venture in the city.
Andrew has taken the role of Executive Head Chef at Mamucium, a brand-new venture set to open this autumn within the newly developed City Buildings development adjacent to Victoria Station (which also houses the new Hotel Indigo Manchester – Victoria Station). Mamucium will comprise a bar, restaurant and café.
The Double AA Rosette winning chef, who also gained recognition for The Lowry’s River Room Restaurant in the 2018 Michelin Guide, is prepped to set the Manchester scene alight with his latest menus featuring classic, locally sourced food, topped off with a Northern spin.
Andrew has previously worked for acclaimed Manchester chef David Gale at the former Alias Rossetti, as well as holding posts as Executive Chef at the Radisson Blu and Crowne Plaza hotels at Manchester Airport. Last year he was short listed for the prestigious Catey’s Hotel Chef of the Year Award and also won the Mentor of the Year Award at the city’s annual Manchester Hoteliers Association Annual Ball and Awards.
When discussing his move to Mamucium, Andy said: “I’m really excited about the opening of Mamucium and the new opportunities it will bring. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and looking forward to adding another exciting and premium dining destination to the Manchester scene.”
James Houlston, Managing Director of BH Group, the developer behind Mamucium, said: “We are so pleased to welcome Andrew to our team. His food is second to none and his passion and authenticity for local and seasonally sourced food complements our vision of Mamucium perfectly. He was undoubtedly the ideal chef for this venture and we cannot wait to introduce his creations to diners in the city.”
Mamucium’s planned interior will be a luxurious setting with modern Art deco influences. A glamorous, curved bar area will be the centrepiece of the venue and the open yet intimate restaurant area will feature comfortable banquet and table seating with views of the open kitchen area.
